Wordless Wednesday: Origami Owl

Ok, this week I can not be totally wordless.  Too much excitement is flowing through my veins about my new business opportunity.  Last night I signed on to be an Independent Designer for Origami Owl.  This process started a few weeks ago when my blogging friend and Twitter pal Sara (@saramomof2) hosted a Twitter party for Robyn, a lady she had met at another blogging event.  As I participated in the party I began thinking about checking out the biz.  Over the next few weeks I prayed about the opportunity.  One day while out shopping my daughter brings me the stuffed owl in the middle photo telling me it would look cute in our kitchen…. The room is purple, but there was not another feathered friend in sight.  As the week went on I received more confirmation that I needed to explore this opportunity.  Last night, I became official…  Linked below are my sales website and my new Facebook page.  If anyone has any questions, you are welcome to comment here or check out my About.Me are for more contact information.

Giving Up Clutter & Setting Goals for Lent

Many of my friends both Catholic and Protestant “give up” something as a sacrifice during the Lenten season.  In years past, I have chosen not to do something or to sacrifice something during the 40 day period.  As I was thinking about what I was going to do for this year I noticed a pattern emerging.  Earlier this week I was reading a Fly Lady newsletter; she wrote about the blessing of clearing clutter from your life.  Then, I picked up a magazine (from a few months ago) and this was on the cover…

So, do you see where this is going?  Yup, for Lent I’ve decided to give up clutter.  Everywhere in my house and surroundings there are things…stuff I hold on to thinking I will “need” it someday.  So, for the next 40 days, I actually got inspired and started in my car yesterday, I am giving up the physical junk I am holding on to and focusing on the peace and “good stuff” Christ brings into my life in the process.  Below is a list of goals I have for this period.  I’ll return to this idea on the blog after Easter with a report of what I did and did not accomplish on this list during Lent.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Home

As I think about this post, I can’t help but think about some of the writing I just did about my home state Why I Named KY Klips.

Home for me is Kentucky…The hills, the bluegrass, the horses, the water (beautiful lakes and rivers, ponds and streams), the country, the cities, the small towns….

Why I Named “Ky Klips” — Daily Prompt

When I chose the name for my blog “KY Klips” I wanted something to reflect where I am from, my home, my being born and raised in the bluegrass.  Ok, so technically, I was born in that Hoosier-land across the river, but I was only there for the first few days of my life because I was a high-risk pregnancy….Note that I was high-maintenance from the beginning!  Anywho, back to the point.  I wanted to represent Kentucky with my blog so the first part was easy… KY

The Klips part came about as a play on words.  When I started reading blogs several years ago, the ones that I actively followed were the frugal blogs.  Yes, I love to use coupons, bargain shop and save money in general, so I was going to be a frugal blogger, right?  Well, I tried and let’s just say I have the utmost amount of respect for my friends like 4 Hats and Frugal, Hip2Save, Family Friendly Frugality, Southern Savers and countless others, but that life was not for me.  As a part time seasonal job turned into a more frequent gig and personal life took some chances I realized that no matter how much I love to save money I do not have the time or desire to constantly monitor and share deals.  I still might share a great bargain here or there or a link to a great coupon or deal site, but it will no longer be the main focus of my blog.

So as I thought about the blog move and relaunch, I debated about giving my “new” blog  fresh title.  Of course, I have quite a bit invested in the name KY Klips…. Twitter, Pinterest, Stumble, business cards, etc.  People know me by that name, some even more so that my “real name”.  I decided to keep the name with a little different focus.  Klips not only represents coupons but snippets.  That’s what I want to do with this blog in the future, give you, my readers snippets of my life.  Glimpses into why I do what I do, how to do it yourself or maybe even how I can do it better.  I might include stories from my past, dreams for my future, photos, videos, quotes, product reviews, travel logs and more.  You never know that the next Klip from KY will be…..  Stay tuned!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique

When I was looking for WordPress hints to help me in my new adventure.  I stumbled across the WordPress Daily Post and their http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/02/01/photo-challenge-unique/

One of the most unusual creatures is the beautiful yet painful jellyfish.  In the right environment (behind glass) they are fascinating to watch.  These unique animals are fun to observe, unless you are standing in the water and they are stinging you.  Then, they are not so pretty anymore.

This photo is my first entry in the WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge and comes from a visit to the Newport Aquarium last fall.

From February 3, 2013

Welcome to the New KY Klips

For my “old friends” who have stopped by to visit, thanks for continuing to follow me on my journey. To the people who are meeting me for the first time in this space, welcome and thank you for joining me in life’s journey. Please bear with me a moment, while I let everyone catch up.
If you do not already follow me on social media in one of its many forms, after reading this please jump over to my About Me page and check it out. If you do follow me, you know that after about a year of active blogging at kyklips.com I dropped off the radar. After dealing with some personal and health issues, which I’ll write more about in the future, I decided to rejoin the blogging world, but no longer owned my domain, so I threw up my hands in frustration and worked on a few other projects.
After much thought and discussion, I have started blogging again here on Word Press. I will soon purchase a domain or a few but for now, I just wanted to get pack on the proverbial horse and start writing again.
For my blogging friends who actively use WordPress, I look forward to your input. I am a Google girl at heart and am anxious to see how this new adventure works out.

Things Fall Apart

Things Fall Apart

As I start my newest adventure in blogging, I come back to one of my favorite photos. Those who know me, know I love my coffee and am rarely seen without a cup somewhere close. I also love the quote in this photo because sometimes things must not go according to plan in order for us to experience something greater. Many things in my life, family, career, home….have not gone according to what I thought was going to happen. Sometimes things have fallen apart; sometimes I have fallen apart. In the end, other doors have opened, sunlight has streamed though the windows and I have found new joys in different circumstances than what I even thought possible. Have you had something fall apart recently? Hold fast to your faith and know that God works ALL things to the good! Be blessed!

What I’m Doing This Month

Last month I participated in the Photo A Day challenge on Instagram and sometimes shared my posts on Twitter or Facebook.  Did I post a photo every day?  Nope!  Did I have a blast on the days I did?  You bet, I met a few new people, gaining likes and comments and felt accomplished that I branched into a new area of social media as I began using Instagram recently.

In February, I will participate again and I look forward to seeing what is posted by my friend and host Stacy from 7 on  a Shoestring.
